The numbers behind the earlier pickup proposal.
Two sets of afternoon Route 57 trip records were reviewed: 107 earlier-trip records and 123 later-trip records. The calculations below are attributed to the requester, not an independent Marin Transit operational assessment.
These are recorded bus arrivals and passenger counts, not a measurement of the time each child spent outside. An older transit facilities record lists a shelter at Stop 40641; current amenities and where students actually wait should be verified rather than assuming no shelter.
Open the analysis in Google Sheets ↗Dismissal is at 2:56 p.m.
The later southbound Route 57 bus is scheduled around 3:19 p.m. Historical timing data may point to a different option using the existing earlier trip.

Approximate scheduled stop arrival
Not a measurement of time every child waited at the stop
When did the earlier trip reach the area?
Percentages calculated from 107 regular dismissal-day records supplied in the author's analysis.
Author's estimated hold to align with dismissal
On the earlier trip in the reviewed records
104 of 107 earlier-trip records had 10 or fewer riders
Historical low passenger loads do not establish remaining vehicle capacity, future boarding demand, or whether a hold would disrupt other riders and downstream trips.
How late did the later bus reach the stop?
These are dismissal-to-arrival gaps. They do not directly measure how many minutes an individual student waited at the stop.

The proposal is to evaluate whether the existing earlier southbound Route 57 trip can serve Stop ID 40641 around the 2:56 p.m. bell, with a limited hold where operationally feasible.
It is not a request to automatically implement a change or add a new vehicle.
What officials said →What Marin Transit would need to test
- Confirm the stop and travel direction used in the raw records.
- Check vehicle assignment, timetable, connections and potential downstream delay.
- Evaluate walking time, safe boarding, passenger load and student demand.
- Publish the technical finding and determine whether a pilot is reasonable.

Methods and limitations
- 107 and 123 refer to distinct samples of reviewed trip records.
- Percentages use the sample sizes shown on this page.
- The time window and estimated median hold use the author's criteria.
- Individual student wait times and transit operating feasibility are not established by these aggregates.
- Original operational records should accompany the analysis before representing the calculations as independently verified.
